Man has expanded deep into the reaches of outer space to feed a growing population. Here in the outpost region, a brave group of scientists resist the iron might of a military commander who is out of control. At the same time, something from the deep, unexplored reaches of the universe approaches. It cannot be defined as matter or as a life form as it looms ever nearer.
