My Generation Was A Social Experimentation- On Race Fakers And Cultural Appropriation
Vk Y
"My Generation Was A Social Experimentation" is the last social and political essay by French-Belgian author VKY (Victoria Kabeya). Are White people from the Western sphere on the verge of collapse? Is White Supremacy coming to an end in the 21st century? The recent cases regarding professors and race fakers Rachel Dolezal and Jessica A. Krug could give us an answer. Why would two academics lie about their heritage? Why would they build false identities all the while ignoring the feelings of the communities they have been lying to? In reality, though Rachel and Jessica are the true symbol of White privilege and Black-face, the issue is actually bigger than it seems. White people have been surpassed by their own demons and are helpless. After centuries of worldwide domination and massive involvement in industrialization, they find themselves helpless and without a sense of self. They no longer have any culture for they spent the last 70 years developping new technologies so as to maintain their dominant position in the world. Then, there comes the "other". The foreigner, immigrant, Black or "person of color" embodies the importation of postcolonialism within the White man's sphere. Though exploited and despised, he still possesses the authenticity of his self, as he somehow succeeded in protecting his own culture. Desperate and jealous, the dominant White entity can now rely on the brutal foundations of the capitalistic society to become the living representation of a minority he envies.
