Light From a Shining Star

Have you ever done anything embarrassing, noble but embarrassing, and been caught doing it? Nur Kartika is a new 7th grade Jr. High school student in a new city who has done just that. Her great and noble deed is caught on camera and the video posted on YouTube. The videos of her actions go viral and suddenly she is propelled into the national spotlight. Nur, who has her own dark past already at her young age, and secrets she would rather not have exposed to anyone, has them now aired in the national media. Yet, she has a message to share, learned the hard way from her past mistakes that she feels is more important than her embarrassment. With her new found 15 minutes of fame, she has the opportunity to do something more, or let it go and be forgotten by the next big media frenzy. Utilizing the talents she has, and with the new friends she has made, she takes on the challenges of overcoming the violence and bullying she experiences. She seeks to create something beautiful and inspirational from the darkness, especially the darkness she holds inside herself. It is time to believe in herself, ready or not, and live up to her namesake, and be a light from a shining star.
