Forces of Gravity

Agent Rob MacAlpine is called on to investigate a murder, effectively already a cold case, now it's one which has fallen into Federal jurisdiction. He isn't long in discovering this particular felony might be a little different. The trail seems frigid until a routine search of the newly uncovered bodies' identity reveals traces of a patent applied for, yet never issued, all physical references to which have been painstakingly removed. As the body count climbs, he's quick to discover it's more than one case he's working on. Some, they're still just missing persons, while other victims seem somehow to have remained unreported. Any connections to potential 'persons of interest' appear untraceable. Two foreign nationals, a patent lawyer, his German wife, their office manager, a ship, and an entire ream of documents in paper and electronic format, all connected - tied by just one ageing set of physical remains, a set which two governments said shouldn't be there. A single aspect of the enigma is now starkly emerging before his eyes, for as events unfold he comes to understand that everything within to this investigation has a single clear link..
