The Cross

What the Lord Jesus did for all mankind on the Cross changed the world forever. All Christians know that salvation and forgiveness of sins was provided for them through the blood of Jesus. For many Christians the Cross ends there, and certainly salvation is a most wonderful thing. But what Christ did on the Cross extends much further than that. Salvation is only the beginning of the Christian life. The Cross is more than a doctrine of salvation. The crucified life must be lived. There is a 'dying to self' that can only be accomplished because of the work of the Cross in the life of a Christian. It is the only way to serve the Lord in the power of the Holy Spirit. There are three aspects of the Cross: Christ was crucified for us... For our sins. Christ was crucified as us... We were in Christ when He died. Christ was crucified in us... We must die daily. "The Lord grant that we shall all be crucified men and women. The assemblies to which we belong - may they be crucified assemblies.
