Joint Investigation: Working Together - Training Together

This manual is designed for training police officers and social workers who have responsibilities to work together to safeguard and protect children, as well as those professionals whose work is linked to the UK's Local Safeguarding Children Boards (such as healthcare workers, teachers and education staff, probation officers, and religious leaders). Primarily addressing the joint training of specialist police officers and social workers, Joint Investigation in Child Protection can also help those linked to safeguarding children to: understand and recognize what constitutes 'significant harm;' focus on the children involved; develop suitable investigative skills; and understand the roles of fellow professionals from other agencies and work effectively with, and if necessary, challenge them. Workers from a wide range of backgrounds, with varied levels of experience, can benefit from this training's approach to child-centered interviewing. The book challenges and goes beyond existing UK government guidance in ways that can significantly improve safeguarding and protecting children and young people.
