It has been more than 50 yrs Strontium-90 been used as a source to treat benign,malignant diseases and superficial disorders of the eye. This was accomplished by using the applicators. Recently, the Physicians and Medical physists world wide had a problem of accesing this applicators. The available applicators, especially Strontium-90 Ophthalmic applicators are more than 20 yrs old and are no longer manufactured. Due to the recurrence in pterygium prevention, glaucoma surgery enhancement, treatment of conjuctivae and etc, applicators have become clinically relevent again. Hence, Department of Med Physics in University of Limpopo has proposed a new model of Sr-90 eye applicator named: Teflon-Encased Eye Applicator. This book, therefore, forcus on the dosimetry of this newly proposed model, the source dimensions, geometries and applicator geometries. The results analysis showed that this applicator is effective, has similar dosimetric results as standard eye applicator and is ready to be manufactured for clinical treatment purposes. This book will be very helpful for Medical physicists and Physicians in Ophthalmology and Brachytherapy centers.
