While the world watches, one of the giant barn owls, endemic to the shores of Kelsner Isle, alights on the beaches of Kailua-Kona. The secret Byron and Tessa swore to keep is exposed. Tessa returns to the island to keep its creatures safe. Byron accompanies her for safety, but they discover another crisis: the town's population is unstable.
