A Journey of Love

In 2006, a child was born and left to die in a banana plantation in the central Vietnamese province of Quang Nam. When he was found three days later, he was barely alive. His right leg, testicles and penis had been eaten by wild animals. Local monks named him Thien Nhan, meaning "charity and goodness."The boy was soon adopted by Hanoian magazine editor Tran Mai Anh, who began the long process of consulting with doctors both within Vietnam and abroad, seeking treatment for her son in the hopes of providing him with the life of a normal boy. The story of Thien Nhan's journey has moved countless supporters who have donated to the costs of his medical procedures around the world. A charity in his name now supports many Vietnamese children suffering from genital loss. Thien Nhan is now an official Goodwill Ambassador who represents the needs of many young children who suffer from genital defects or loss of genitals due to traumatic incidents and are in need of life-changing support and assistance. This book, translated from the original Vietnamese by friends of Thien Nhan, tells the story of his long path to healing in the words of his adopted mother and grandmother. It speaks to the enduring power of love to overcome what seems impossible.
