Sacramento-based electronic band Insect changed on April 16th, 2007. 'We were touring in Oregon, watching a newscast on the night of the Virginia Tech massacre. The fact that we weren't shocked by the incident was what actually disturbed us. And we knew that we weren't alone. That night, the concept of our new album was born. We set out to find why no one seems to give a damn about much of anything anymore.' -Lead singer Mike Logan With their album release, Digital Mass, Insect has taken a journey into the causes of modern human detachment. In the process, they've created an aggressive and dark, sometimes visual album about the Internet Age. How it numbs us. How it hurts us. And why we should be concerned for the future. 'For us, art is not a canvas. It's a mirror. If what we say disturbs you, maybe it's time to look around.' -Keyboardist Chris Poe Coming off two west coast tours that took them to the borders of Canada and Mexico, stage is nothing new. For them, each gig is an opportunity. With their cinematic vision and synchronized lights, Insect wants fans to leave each show feeling as though they just left an arena. No matter what size the venue. 'These days, artistic expression has been digitized and televised and commercialized and packaged, and a lot of the magic has been lost in the process. It's important to us that we try to recapture that magic by hopefully showing the audience something fresh.' -Logan For the future, Insect's plans are simple. Play hard and often. Relay their dark message to those who feel disenfranchised by the current state of the world. 'We're not qualified to preach.
